Travel Direct - UK Unmarried Partner Visa (Defacto Visa) for International Students

I will take you step by step for this application, as it has taken me quite some time to collect all the information and relevant documents. This is simply what I went through to get an Unmarried Partner Visa in the UK. This is to help those people who are planning to or are in the process of applying for 'Unmarried Partner's visa' as an international student living in UK, hi everyone.

: LETTER FROM YOUR SCHOOL OR UNIVERSITY is a Must!

So "You definitely need a letter from university" showing current progress on your course. Home office will not accept those applications where applicants have launched unmarried visa application with unfinished study programme. You are still in your studies (meaning you must show home office that you are making good progress on your study programme), another important factor about this application is that when you are launching your application. For people who are students and during their studies they meet their partners (must remember that you can only apply for this visa if your partner is a British national or holding indefinite leave to remain in UK), first of all this advice is about genuine cases.

In my case that was the last thing in my mind when I prepared each and everything for this visa. At the home office you will be asked to show a letter from your university stating that you are still attending your course, you will not be asked to bring a school letter along with your visa application form but as you are switching from student to unmarried partner visa. As FLRM form (or any guidance notes from home office on unmarried partner visa) are not mentioning this important factor, i am specifically stressing on this point about the letter from the University.

My casework at last called my university and asked about my attendance. I had taken several university documents as evidence about me and my partner living on the same address, although fortunately in my case. I did not take anything with me, as FLRM form did not ask any document about the university.

With my understanding in most cases your casework or even at the entry point you will be asked to go back and make another appointment to bring that single letter.

If you haven't got this they will ask you to book another appointment and bring the letter on that day, they will ask for this letter as soon as you enter the Home Office! If you are a student you must take a letter from your University stating that you are attending and progressing with your studies, for example, that means. Morale of the Story : Make sure you take documents to prove that you are staying in the UK legally.
